DC Governance – An ever increasing burden?

With the government’s recent launch of the Pensions Roadmap and the commencement of the Auto Enrolment process, combined with proposed increasing and more onerous governance requirements, does this mean that Trustees are now going to be placed under greater pressure and time constraints?

It has been a very busy decade for DC Governance, starting with the introduction of on-the-spot fines regime in 2008, to the government’s announcement of the Roadmap for pensions reform this year. Within this period, there have been countless other developments in the pensions landscape, including; OECD review of the Irish pension system, four DC related public consultations and the introduction of the DC Codes of Governance.

The future shows no sign of slowing up either, with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) now in place and the risk of cyber attacks adding to these concerns. The IORP II Directive is looming and must be transposed into Irish law by January 2019, and the impending introduction of Auto Enrolment represents a new burden for trustees with many wondering just where to begin.

We believe that these questions need to be addressed and actioned now, before proposals become reality and compliance deadlines are upon us.

During this breakfast discussion Aon’s Caroline Rowan and Shane Horgan will address these key points, and solutions to easing these increasing DC burdens.

You will also hear lessons and best practice learnt from the UK where Auto-Enrolment has been a requirement since 2012. These insights will be given by the Managing Director of Capital Cranfield Independent Trustees, Neil McPherson

This thought provoking breakfast session will give great insights on how to navigate the changes ahead, and help reduce tomorrow's burdens today.

This event is open to trustees only in order to allow for open discussion. We look forward to welcoming you, where a continental breakfast will be served.

This seminar is allocated 1 CPD hour by the IAPF for on-going trustee training requirements. We have confirmation of 1 CPD hour from the LIA and IOB under category 2. Pensions, Pension Trustee Practitioners (PTP) hours and category 3.
