Investing in Ireland: Making Ireland Investable for Pension Schemes & Workplace Savings Schemes
The EU’s Savings and Investment Union is a cornerstone of its growth and competitiveness agenda, mobilising long-term capital to support innovation, the energy transition, digitalisation and resilience. Yet most Irish pension schemes have little or no domestic investment, with growth assets concentrated in US equities. This raises a critical question of how we make Ireland an attractive , investable option for long-term pension capital without compromising value for money.
This information session brings together trustees, policymakers, asset managers and industry leaders to explore practical, investable solutions.
We will examine:
- Real investment opportunities in Ireland that could meet the needs of Irish pension schemes.
- The fund and market infrastructure required for trustees to allocate with confidence
- New investment accounts are planned for 2027 and we will discuss the opportunity of workplace savings schemes and how these assets are likely to be invested in practice
- We will discuss how fee pressure is driving asset concentration and the risk of a “race to the bottom”.
This session is about building momentum, from shared understanding to credible structures and investable pathways that allow pension and workplace savings to support Irish growth while delivering for members.
