My DB pensions deficit - fund it or risk it?
Please join us on Wednesday evening 21 October for an informative discussion on how trustees of defined benefit pension schemes should face the challenges that lie ahead in the coming months. The key task facing many trustees at the moment is to agree a formal funding proposal to satisfy Pensions Board requirements - but to do that requires prior consideration of a range of issues including the choice of investment strategy. David O'Sullivan (see bio) will present first-hand experience of the questions that need asking and the questions that need answering, before a funding plan can be finalised.
This choice of investment strategy is being fundamentally revisited by most DB trustees in 2009, and many are asking, "should we lock in the gains of 2009 and ignore the losses of 2008? What does the future hold?" With this backdrop in mind, our second speaker Eoin Fahy (see bio) will assess the prospects for global economies and stock markets into 2010.
We look forward to seeing you for what promises to be a lively discussion.
